In my opinion, every action film should begin with a decently hard core action scene in the first 5 minutes. If I don’t see a fight scene, a natural disaster, a car chase or robbery in the first 5 minutes of the film, you’ve completely missed the point of a great action film.
Yeah there are slow burners and okay maybe you want the story line to at least make sense or give us a reason to go on this journey with you. But let’s not forget, the best part of action films is the action itself! I want to feel like if I remove my eyelids from the screen for just a second to pass the popcorn, I’ve missed either a death, an explosion or a super cool stunt trick that makes you think “wow he must’ve had some hard core training during his military intelligence program”.
I want the action so packed that it feels like im doing a vigorous workout. By that I mean, I’m so distracted and in tune with whats going on that i’ve forgotten everything beyond on the four walls im situated in. Let me escape in your vision.
Gimmie the John Wick’s, the Alien’s, XXX, Tomb Raider, literally any action film starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, maybe the first 5 Fast & Furious films, maybe every other Bond film (i’ll get to that in another post), the Quentin T’s, the Marvels, and of course the greatest films known to stunt history with Jet li, Bruce Lee and Jackie Chan – etcetera, etcetera…
I won’t lie, I’m pretty content and adaptable when it comes to locking down at home but I will say, there is nothing like a big ass screen, a dark room and deafening sound to wisp me into another world!
I’m really excited to go to the cinema again.
