Today is officially ‘Day 1’…
Did a quick check on the live-stream and it seemed to still be going during the night. And being dramatic as anything, I find myself climbing into the window frame, head leaned against the glass, just trying to reach those sun rays reflecting the opposing buildings. Then picked up my next Agatha Christie book ‘Lord Edgware Dies’ which I am so excited for since I haven’t had time to read at all in the last month preparing to move back home.
Finally did my first yoga routine in over a week (since I was busy with packing and farewells), and it is not fun at all using a towel on carpet (don’t trust the floor) when you feel like you’re about to plumage and fall on your head in the middle of a floor clenching downward facing dog. After a stretch and shower I thought I’d check on the Twitch account and discover my first and yet expected internet weirdo. In less than 24-hours, I have my first donation of $5 because this person heard me sneeze (damn dust) and then a second offer of $100 if I “drop my robe”, I got dressed, replied “nah” and that was that. My intention was to not have to look over the Old-Mac so I need to be completely confident in how this stream continues so I can really forget it’s there… Also, where on Earth is this money going? I didn’t put any bank details on this account? This is a self reminder to check on that when i’m done with the stream. Another thought that popped into my brain was evidently how easy it is to get money off strangers. It’s something we all know and are aware of but it’s kind of comforting to know that if i were that kind of person, I could have this entire quarantine fee of $3000 paid for me! Now relax, I never said I would ever do that because no, I would not. But I would never judge anyone that would feel the need to (you do you boo).
I called up ‘Magic’ to request for lemons (I like to start my morning with lemon water then a black tea) and to my surprise they said they could only give me lemons if I paid $3… per lemon. Then I asked for alternate milk since full cream isn’t my best friend and they said again, at a charge. Okay how about another bottle of water? Well don’t act surprised now… But can’t they just take it out of my $3000 fee, as a favour? This is a 5-star hotel after all! Guess not. At least they sent me some tea.
Today was mainly fixing up this website and other boring important stuff. As much as I am against technology, I can’t deny that I am pretty tech-savvy and even for me this whole website business is taking way too much effort and time but that’s probably more to do with my minor OCD than anything. Voilà, we are up and running.
I opted out for breakfast since I’ve started intermitted fasting to stop my over eating habits. But lunch was delightful. And what I have noticed is, breakfast or not, they give a really generous amount of food here and because I am incapable of not finishing my food no matter how full I am, I couldn’t possibly under-eat (something I am thankful for).
Lunch was veggie burger, a side of salad that I put in the burger, a packet of my favourite flavoured chippies, salt & vinegar that I also put in the burger and a mandarin. Dinner was a serving of veggies in a tomato stew with cornbread (mmm cornbread), a small slice of tiramisu cake and POPCORN – my all time favourite snack/“junk” food.
Something I found odd though, was that room service delivered me two boxes for dinner instead of one and yet they had only delivered one box for every other meal. So I called up “Magic” and let them know they accidentally gave me two meals instead of one and I didn’t want them to waste the food so they should collect and use it right away. Then I remembered when I first came in to Room #3704, there were two small beds instead of one big one so they must have thought there would be two occupants in the room instead of one. After finishing my dinner, I went to the hall to drop my recycling and rubbish to find that the second box of dinner was still on the floor… so I picked it up and ate that as well (and saved the other popcorn to enjoy tomorrow).
