We know too much of anything is bad for us. We know technology is unnatural and we are constantly surrounded by it. We know all the many bad affects that come with being on social media or glued to a screen for so long can have. So why don’t we ever think to fast from it? Refresh and clean out the system…
But I do understand, if you aren’t pushing yourself to the limits then you probably don’t know the benefits otherwise you would. Or you just haven’t given yourself enough credit to believe you can go the extra mile which is a whole other battle worth facing…
Jiujitsu is yes, a martial art, a combat sport, “the gentle art” but let’s face it, there’s nothing so gentle about breaking bones, tearing muscles, spraining ligaments, the occasional eye gauge, nut hit, tooth chip and constantly choking people unconscious…
So when you do have those special occasions, you don’t have to miss out or feel guilty about your choices. You’re never ever going to be perfect and you shouldn’t be anyway because wheres the fun in that! Just so long as you are cautious of it, then at least you’re putting reason behind your decisions instead of just mindlessly reacting…
It means taking care of not only the physical form but your mental and spiritual health too. These three things are all connected and when all three are on the right track, everything else surrounding just falls into place…
And no wonder I felt a positive shift in my atmosphere, like things in my life were aligning and like nothing could phase me!! Life isn’t perfect (which is perfect) but I have also never felt so content and grateful and on track as I do right now, and more and more so as each day passes…
I started listening to the ‘Huberman Lab’ podcast by Dr. Andrew Huberman on Spotify after listening to his episode on JRE. What sold me was the topics of changing your nervous system for a better/healthier mental state as well as becoming more focused and having greater memory and therefore, learning new things more affectively which I am ALL about.
I allow myself to feel the cold, breathe and relax in the discomfort until it is no longer uncomfortable.
You never know when your body may need you to kick in some extra strength or ability, life is unpredictable…
