Let me tell you about my favourite place to be in all of Singa and where I had spent many memories while living there…
Haji Lane // Arab St
My favourite place is actually a fantastical hybrid.
Two awesome locations, perpendicular to each other. What more could you ask for!
My love for these two places are summarised as great food, greater entertainment and a trippy view.
And the crazy part is most locals don’t spend much time there. Its like the hidden gem for expats, like many of other cool places in sg due to their influx of foreigners living abroad.
If the magnificent street art, palm trees and giant golden mosque isn’t enough for you to gape at, when the sun goes down and the lights get lit, this little part of town gets casts with a magical spell. The night crowd starts rolling in, the musicians start busking and the smell of different foods permeate the air. The whole lane makes me feel like im tripping out and have entered some cosmic realm! The neon masterpieces start glowing in the dark around Blu Jaz, a three story bar with a small stage for live bands to play. The restaurant host’s of Arab St lure you in with their special deals for the night, their cheeky compliments and promises if you choose to dine with them instead of next door, all in good fun and with charismatic imprints. The funky trinkets lined up outside the night stalls and people dancing to the live music all makes this place a little Wonderland you enter and get lost in. Its so beautiful, its so fun and man the food on Arab St – all competing against each other with similar dishes and yet you’ll still manage to hit up every single one for its different offer each new time you visit.
To top it off, NOX – Dine in The Dark (one of the most amazing experiences in my life that I have previously written about) was situated right on the corner and end of Haji Lane (which has now moved and upgraded – good on them!!!!) plus the coolest secret gin bar that I that I apparently passed every single time I was around this place without knowing it – which I will soon write about (its even better than it sounds).
Singapore is awesome place to visit and I had the absolute pleasure of living there and exploring everywhere it had to offer. They have done the best job in aesthetically pimping out the entire island-city and nailed their attractions in every possible way. This country hands down wins at tourism. There are so many places I could recommend and wish to visit again…
There will always be a little place in my heart for Singapore and a place where I left a piece of my heart at Haji Lane & Arab Street!
