So today I woke up and almost immediately decided that I would like to renovate… again. I did my ordinary morning routine and was excited to get things moving. I had another little self-pity moment when I realised that my side of the building doesn’t capture the sunrise or sunset. The sun is something I most definitely do not take for granted (or any aspect of nature for that matter). I will willingly wake up at the crack of dawn every morning just so I can capture whatever unique artwork is being formed in the sky that day. This clearly means nothing in this room but i’ve got two weeks to get my sleeping pattern back to normal so I can experience that beautiful Aussie sun rise again for the first time in 13-months.
Although I do love the aesthetics of my #Pinterest, #minimalist, one bedroom, city apartment looking hotel room, I came to the conclusion that with the minimal sunlight I get in this room, I would like to enjoy my day to day activities in as much of it as I can; meaning, the beds gotta move. There are two single beds, an arm chair with a matching stool, a small side table, a bigger side table, a long desk, one of those cushioned table/chair things that are in every hotel room that I can only assume are meant for your suitcase (I mean, that’s what I use it for), a tall lamp, a desk lamp and a long side table thats attached to the wall (which I forgot when I already started moving things – but I made it work); all in this small rectangular hotel room. The only way I was going to get what I envisioned to come to life was to completely disregard this hovering plank of wood sticking out of the wall. I did this by pulling the bed bases under the table and the mattresses over it – luckily for me, it is almost exactly in the middle of where these two things join. Innovative… handy… so smart… I know right.
Moving things around the room also meant moving where the camera was. Hello ello, yes we are still live. I did not forget about it which I am now starting to question. Good news is the new location for my old laptop is out my eye-line so it’s a lot easier to forget it’s there. Until I had to bring it down because a friend told me I was offline when it was actually still streaming. So that took a minute…
So much for minimal technology. This whole quarantine business is turning out to be a real piece of work. Unfortunately the only way to fix this problem was to restart the application, meaning my stream which was just going on 48-hours had to come to an end and restart all over again (there goes my Guiness World Record)… I also discovered that recording my live stream also meant that any random on the scary web has access to these videos, not just myself. Meaning even if there was nobody watching at the time, anyone can just go back to any of those moments – GREAT. It’s fine, I am not a quitter and I enjoy a challenge, even if its an invasion of my privacy which let’s face it, the privilege of that was long gone as soon as we sold our souls to Apple. So I no longer care anymore. I do have my off-camera corner where the “kitchen” and bathroom is anyway.
I find myself repeating every now and again to myself either “don’t worry, nobody is watching” or “ooh maybe rethink that, someone is probably watching”. I’m torn between wanting to forget there’s a camera on me and making sure I don’t completely forget that there is indeed a live camera on me. So that’s kind of strange.
And just like Room #3704, I decided that I wasn’t entirely happy with the layout of my new website and blog. So I started again from scratch and am happy with this new design… for now!
My sister sent me a care package tonight with candles, LEMONS, incense, toothpaste (you’d think my fancy ass, 5-star, $3000 fee, hotel would provide some paste but nope), ALMOND MILK, a bath-bomb, face masks, a book stand for the bathtub (which I am still yet to use) and of course MY YOGA MAT. I am very excited to do yoga tomorrow morning in my new location by the window in that cute little patch of sunlight.
Lunch today was a roasted pumpkin, tomato, capsicum, mushroom & tahini hummos sandwhich, a quinoa salad with beetroot , spinach and almond flakes, a green juice and a packet of “premium nuts” which just means hardly any nuts and a tonne of rice crackers.
Dinner was another tomato stew but with some seafood and veggies and a side of cauliflower salad which I just dumped into the sauce to make one big tub of veg, and a cute little “grazing platter” – SCORE! I mean it was just a couple dried fruits, grapes and one of those cheese and cracker packets the white kids got in their lunch boxes in primary school. It wasn’t exactly a triple cream brie and water wafer moment but I’m not complaining. Also, popcorn from last night… yay.
