Taekwondo is like an arcade game

Not a lot of people know what taekwondo is but just know its a type of combat sport. This was me until about a couple months ago. I was introduced to it during their world championship event and got to watch online some the Australian team compete against other top athletes representing their countries.

From what I have learnt, since TKD has been present in the olympics, a lot has changed. Its gone from a raw Martial Art to a point system. Instead of dominating kicks and knockouts which are still valid in the Olympic sport, but since introducing touch sensitive gear to the game and accumulating points based on hitting the targets, I feel like it takes the instinctive fight out of it and turns it into more of a game. An extremely hard level and high paced game of that, but I just picture a miniature version of the opponents and two people controlling them, pressing buttons, trying to hit the targets.

I don’t do the sport at all so my opinion is completely invalid but I just thought it was a funny perspective I wanted to share.
