Whether its sport, fighting, gaming…
At the end of the day [or match in this instance], there is always a looser.
Well duh. But think about it further. Even at the highest levels, the best of the best, someone has to fail. Out of all the family, friends and fans watching, half of the viewers go home disappointed.
We only ever think about the winners. We think about their pay out, their party, the speeches in post interviews, the medals and publicity that follows. But someone on the other side of that, goes home head hanging, disappointed in failing the mission, and although may have done all the right things leading up, during even, made one pivotal mistake which cost it all.
Imagine on a larger scale like a world cup, something with world wide viewership. Half the world is defeated, and those at the hands of the defeat feeling responsible.
But that’s the beauty of it I guess? Its a battle and in some strange way it keeps a sense of balance in the world. The most acclaimed and higher the stakes, the harder the defeat hits.
We can’t all be undefeated. And if so, at what cost?
