If you’re like me and love love seafood and don’t discriminate against any type, then of course you must be aware of the risks of mercury. Salmon being one of the most nutrient dense of the sea options luckily is a very young fish when captured and therefore doesn’t have as much time to accumulate the heavy metals but its still something to be weary of. Especially if you’re eating other types of sea creatures.
So the answer to how to counteract the toxicity of mercury is with garlic. There are atoms in Garlic that bind to mercury so it can be excreted from the body through urine. Apparently the best way to get the full effects is when its raw but obviously that isn’t an ideal way to eat it [unless thats your jam], so you can crush the garlic [i’d say with a blade] for 5-10 mins before chopping it up and mixing it in your cooking.
I heard this on a podcast and found it interesting and useful so thought it was worth relaying the info…
Also, the sauna is a good way to excrete heavy metals so there’s another great excuse, along with the long list of existing benefits, to add it to your regular routine.
