Harry Potter HBO Series

Okay so if you haven’t heard the news… yes, this is apparently happening. I am so nervous and so excited at the same time. This could either be the greatest thing that could ever happen to HP fandom… or the worst.

I’ve been meaning to start blogging about my favourite story ever created for a long while now and since I heard the news, I’ve finally had to pull the trigger. And since I promised myself to take a break from reading HP for the hundredth time, I can now treat myself to the illustrated versions which I am yet to read, so you know, I don’t miss anything important. *tear of joy strikes my smiling cheek*

I have been praying for a HP tv series since the first time I finished the series. Let’s get one thing straight. You cannot compare the films to the books. No one is greater than the other. They both compliment where the other lacks. They are not the same thing. They are both magnificent, individual works of art. They are incomparable.

Steve Knowles has done a fantastic job in somehow condensing this enormous story and world without taking chucks out but also somehow adding more in to fill in the blanks. Its honestly a master piece.

Okay now that I have got that out of the way, I need to address the obvious fact and reason why the tv series is a gift to us. We can finally see every detail and every missing chunk of the story that we were deprived of in the films. As I’ve stated, they are two completely different entities and remember, with this play by play version of the literature, we will also miss out on some of the great cinematic additions.

Now heres the twist. It has been rightfully promised that it will be an exact depiction of the books but will they also carry out the extra cinematic bonus’ that universal added to the mix? Who knows. I’m trusting that because J.K is on the board for this process, we can be assured that this won’t disappoint. *fingers crossed*

Of course tiny details like the colour of Harry eyes or the colour of Dudley’s hair are insignificant to the story but it will be nice to see our imaginations of the words given to us, come to fruition. We can get a great glimpse of that world with Jim Kay’s incredible illustrated series so far, so hoping they stick to their guns and make this world exactly how J.K created it, we will be in for a treat.

Although I do think this comeback is a little premature, I am so damn excited for the rest of the world who hasn’t been introduced to the hidden gems that aren’t already told on screen. To learn about the history of Voldemort’s family, why there are ghosts, the curse of the Defence Against The Dark Arts teacher, the politics, the cool creatures, apparation training, SQUIBS!!, etc, etc… I can finally have more to talk about with my fellow dorks and can marvel at the depth of every character and background story.

Eeeeep
